My name is Aleksander Kanchev and I am a software engineer at VMware Bulgaria. I have been with the company for a little more than three years, working on a couple of different projects. Currently, I am part of the team developing the UI for our biggest product, vSphere. Our project is written in AngularJS (currently migrating to Angular 2), TypeScript and Java but I am always open to trying out new technologies.
I have some experience with hackathons myself, participating in a few VMware-internal ones. Not to be bragging, but I was part of the winning team at one of them. We usually organize a couple of them every year with one coming up just at the start of December. I guess, you can already tell that I love hackathons and I am really excited to be part of HackBlagoevgrad.

Boyan has 8 years of experience as a programmer, business analyst, UX designer and manager at Astea Solutions. With over 10 projects behind his back, he will help the participants define their projects, clear out their goals, prepare their demonstrations and present in a brilliant way all the activities separate from programming. Despite being important, these activities are often left behind. Boyan has experience with JavaScript, Ruby, Angular and React. He may also help in choosing the right technology for quick implementations that will suit the limited time of the hackathon.

Georgi Goranov is a technical project manager in Proxiad, working on the Mailjet project. He graduated Software Engineering at Sofia University and is currently studying IT Project Management at New Bulgarian University. His interests lie in video games (#pcmasterrace), PC building, and quantum mechanics/weirdness. Apart from these, he enjoys any kind of physical activity, especially hiking, biking, and volleyball.

I have been a Java developer at Proxiad Bulgaria for more than two years now. The project that I'm working on is SAP Ariba. It is a service that allows buyers and suppliers to communicate and do business within a single platform. I have studied Computer Science at Sofia University. I have a lot of hobbies – going to conferences, machine learning, reading books, and sport climbing.

Ivan Yonkov has a long-standing experience in the Quality Assurance field, as well as in Software Development with various technologies. His career started in high school with a Junior position and has now reached Technical Training Lead in the only Software University in Bulgaria.

I graduated from AUBG in 2014 with two majors – Information Systems and Business Administration and I have been interested in programming from the very beginning. I was a teaching assistant at the university in several disciplines – Statistics, Web Development, and Software Engineering. During my studies, I worked in a few companies where I used VBA, .NET Web Applications, C#, technical documentation and client support. After graduation, I worked with Python, Java, and SQL for Big Data. In the last 10 months, I am actively involved with Java, SQL, Spring Integration Patterns and Bash. I also have some minor experience with front end and popular CMS and e-shop systems like Drupal and Magento.

Joseph Pilov is an AUBG class of 96 graduate, who returned to the university to share his experience. He is currently teaching Management Information Systems in the AUBG Business Department. He spent most of his professional career working as a support engineer and a consultant at Microsoft in the US. His area of expertise is in database technologies (SQL Server) – performance optimization, OS programming (memory management, multi-threading and thread synchronization, disk I/O), as well as application and server debugging. His focus was on helping enterprises deploy and optimize their database systems, and on building reliable and performant database applications. He enjoys digging in low-level technologies like Assembly, C++ and understanding how things are designed and how they operate. He also likes to ponder the applicability of technology in the business world and is especially excited to teach others about the Cloud. As a freelance developer Joseph built web site applications using ASP.NET MVC (full stack) as well as middle-tier data-driven custom applications using technologies from the Microsoft stack (C#, LINQ, SQL Server). Joseph is currently tinkering with Linux, Docker Containers, PHP, MySQL.

I am a web developer, who likes to look at questions on Stackoverflow regarding both the front-end and the back-end of web applications. However, I tend to focus on the former. I have googled IT words like Javascript and PHP. Sometimes I can look Angular, but I try to Bootstrap my way out of such situations in a SASSy way.

Nikolina Shopova graduated from Sofia University with a degree in Software Engineering. She has 8 years of experience in software development. Currently, she is a Java developer at Proxiad.

Teodor Savov is an AUBG alumnus, who graduated with a double degree in Computer Science and in Information Systems. He is one of the co-founders of Centroida and а project manager there. He is one of the brains behind the architecture of Central Property.

I’ve worked for two years as a software developer through intern/co-op programs. I have a Master of Science from the University of Kentucky and a Master of Engineering from Cornell. After that, I worked for a year in a department dedicated to preparing documents with technical requirements. From 2011, I work exclusively as a programmer. I have experience with most contemporary languages – C, C++, Python, Perl, Ruby, JavaScript, C#, and Java. I’ve fiddled with OCaml and Scala. I try to stay away from PHP and the browser-based client-side although I’m well recognized with them.
